    Copyright & DMCA Takedown Policy

    Effective Date: May 3, 2026

    1. Our Commitment to Intellectual Property

Handwritium (https://handwritium.org/) is a personal, non-commercial project dedicated to the preservation and accessibility of public domain literature, data, and audio. We primarily source content from reputable public domain repositories such as Project Gutenberg and LibriVox.

We have a zero-tolerance policy for intentional copyright infringement. However, because copyright laws vary by jurisdiction and are constantly evolving, we recognize that content may occasionally be hosted that a rights-holder believes should be removed.

    2. The “Safe Harbor” Approach

Although Handwritium is a personal project, we voluntarily adhere to the principles of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Our goal is to resolve all copyright concerns diplomatically and immediately, without the need for formal legal intervention.

    3. How to Request a Content Removal

If you are a copyright owner or an agent thereof and believe that any content on Handwritium infringes upon your copyrights, please contact us directly. We are a small, independent operation, and we promise to handle your request with the highest priority.

Please send your “Takedown Request” to:

    • Agent for Notice: Resteer John L. Lumbab

    • Email: support@handwritium.org

    • Subject Line: ATTN: Copyright Takedown Request

    4. What Your Request Should Include

To help us process your request quickly, please provide the following information in your email:

    1. Identification of the Work: A clear description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.

    2. Location of the Content: The specific URL(s) on Handwritium where the material is located.

    3. Contact Information: Your name, address, telephone number, and email address.

    4. A Statement of Good Faith: A statement that you have a “good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.”

    5. A Statement of Accuracy: A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner.

    6. Signature: A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized agent.

    5. Our Diplomatic Resolution Process

Upon receipt of a valid and complete Takedown Request:

    • Immediate Review: We will review your request within 24–48 hours.

    • Expedited Removal: If the claim appears valid, we will immediately remove or disable access to the disputed material. We prefer to “take down first and discuss later” to ensure your rights are protected.

    • Notification: We will notify you via email once the content has been removed.

    6. No Commercial Intent

Please note that Handwritium is a strictly non-commercial project. We do not generate revenue, serve ads, or sell access to any books or data. We host this content for the public good and educational purposes. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a library that respects the creators of the past and present.
