Website: Handwritium
Hi! This is the Cookie Policy for Handwritium.
When you visit my website, I use “cookies.” No, sadly, these aren’t the chocolate chip kind you can eat. In the internet world, cookies are small text files that my website saves on your computer or phone when you visit.
This policy explains what they are, why I use them, and how you can get rid of them if you don’t like them.
1. What Are Cookies?
Think of a cookie like a short-term memory for the website. Without them, the website would have “amnesia.”
For example, if you log in and then click to another page, the website would forget who you are and ask you to log in again. Cookies solve this by saving a tiny file that says, “Hey, this is User [X], and they are currently logged in.”
2. Why Do I Use Them?
I don’t use cookies to spy on your personal life. I use them for three simple reasons:
- To Keep You Logged In: If you create an account, I need a cookie to remember you so you don’t have to type your password on every single page.
- Security: I use security tools (like Wordfence) that use cookies to detect if someone is trying to hack the site. If the site sees a suspicious device, the cookie helps block it.
- To See What Works: I want to know if people are actually visiting my new website.
3. The Specific Cookies I Use
Since I believe in 100% transparency, here are the third-party services I use that might set a cookie on your browser:
- Essential Cookies: These are required for the website to work.
- System Cookies: Used to remember your session when you log in.
- Security Cookies:
- Wordfence & Jetpack: These help me identify legitimate traffic vs. bad bots and hackers.
- Analytics Cookies:
- Google Analytics: This helps me see basic stats like “10 people visited from the Philippines today” or “Most users are using mobile phones.” This data is anonymous—I cannot see your name or exactly who you are, just general trends.
4. How to Disable Cookies
If you don’t want these files on your computer, you have full control. You can block or delete them at any time.
- Browser Settings: You can go into your settings (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) and choose “Clear Cookies” or “Block Third-Party Cookies.”
- Privacy Browsers: As I mentioned in my Privacy Policy, if you really care about privacy (like I do!), I recommend using browsers like Brave, Librewolf, or Mullvad. They block most of these trackers by default.
- Extensions: You can install free extensions like uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger to block analytics cookies automatically.
Note: If you block all cookies, you might not be able to log in to your account, but you can still browse the free pages just fine.
5. Changes to This Policy
I might update this policy if I add new tools or features to the site. If I do, I will update the date at the top of this page.
